1 What is your area of focus?

We specialise in Impressionist, Post- Impressionist, Modern British and 19th century works, along with other exceptional pieces.

2 Have you noticed any collecting trends in the last 6-12 months?

Clients have certainly become more eclectic with what they are collecting. We are seeing Modern British buyers divert into Pop Art and 19th century clients interested in Impressionist works.

3 One great discovery you’ve made?

Some years ago, we bought a beautiful painting of a lady by French painter Paul César Helleu (1859-1927). Through research we discovered she was the famous American actress Lillian Gish, ‘The First Lady of American cinema’ credited with pioneering fundamental film performance techniques.

4 One lesson you would pass on to others in the trade?

If you have the opportunity to acquire a work of art that you think is beautiful then make sure you view it in person.

5 Real ale or espresso martini?
