Oval mirror with faceted glass bead frame, catalogued as Irish 18th century style – £5200 at John Taylors.

Consigned by a vendor who felt it did not go with the interior of his modern new house, this oval mirror with faceted glass bead frame was catalogued as Irish 18th century style at this Lincolnshire sale.

Bidders who appreciate age seemed to think the 2ft x 16in (61 x 41cm) mirror was indeed period and Irish. It sold to the London trade for £5200 against a £100-200 estimate.
