It will feature not only paintings but works in a range of mediums including sculpture, books and autograph letters, photographs, engravings, design, jewellery and fashion.
The selection pays tribute to women artists of different nationalities working over five centuries from the 16th to the 21st century.
Among the artists from the 20th century represented by work in the sale are Dorothea Tanning, Dora Maar and Maria Helena Vieira da Silva. Two of the sale’s highlights are still-lifes in the Old Masters section.
A 17th century oil on canvas with grapes and peaches by Louyse Moillon (1610-96), who specialised in the genre, which is signed and dated Louyse Moillon/1636, has an estimate of €300,000-500,000.
Another fruit and floral arrangement, shown here, is by Anne Vallayer Coster (1744-1818), a mature work by the artist executed after her admission to the Royal Academy of painting and sculpture.
Her depiction of a vase of flowers and grapes on a ledge has never before been offered at auction and has not been shown in public since its last appearance at an exhibition in London in 1954. The 18 x 15in (46 x38cm) oil on canvas, signed and dated M Vall Coster /1781 lower right, has an estimate of €150,000-250,000.
