The collaborative show, which is in situ at the Elizabethan house from July 21 until August 31 and is also available to view via a short film on the gallery’s website, is a dramatic play on old and new – as seen in this image above of Junko Mori’s (b.1974) Botany Succulent (2020) and a Tudor portrait in the Great Hall.
Contemporary ceramics, glass and silver made by the gallery’s roster of international artists are interspersed with Parham’s art and antiques, including its 17th century embroidery collection which is regarded as one of the finest in the country. They include pieces by Takahiro Kondo, Hitomi Hosono, Nico Conti and Kate Malone.
“Without removing furniture and objects, we have placed an outstanding selection of new and recent work by our international artists, as a collector might do, while remaining true to the Parham spirit of the un-changing past being the foundation for today’s living,” said Adrian Sassoon.
