‘Ynys Mon’ by Sir Kyffin Williams – estimated at £50,000-70,000 at Rogers Jones.
Titled Ynys Mon, shown above, it depicts the village of Rhoscolyn in Anglesey with a farmer and dog walking on a lane. The 19¾in x 3ft 7in (50cm x 1.1m) oil on canvas shows the village chapel to the centre and is a rare example of a landscape by the artist featuring buildings so prominently.
It was purchased by the parents of the Welsh vendor in c.1982 from Tegfryn Gallery in Anglesey (they bought it the day after the artist had delivered it to the dealership).
At Rogers Jones, it will carry a £50,000-70,000 estimate.
