Roger Broders 1929 poster design promoting Dunkerque – estimate $17,000-20,000 at Poster Auctions International on July 20.
The artist Roger Broders is a well-known poster designer of the Art Deco era and this sale in New York on July 20, features eight posters by him including those promoting travel to such destinations as Antibes, Marseilles, Monaco and Tunis.
Pictured here is his 1929 design promoting Dunkerque in northern France on a poster measuring 2ft x 3ft 3in (61 x 99cm). Billed as the rarest of all Broders’ posters, it is also the only one created for the Chemin de Fer du Nord and depicts an elegant couple on a boat with the town in the background.
Estimate of $17,000-20,000.
