1 How did you get your start?

To finance my studies, I started working for an art dealer near Milan and discovered an exciting world, especially of Old Masters.

At 21 I bought my first painting and art history books to help with my research, and then I met everyone in that orbit: art historians, clients, museum curators…

2 Have you noticed any collecting trends in the last 6-12 months? If so, tell us a bit about them.

Women artists. Now everyone is looking at them! Every discovery of a new work by a woman artist, someone like Artemisia Gentileschi, becomes an event in itself.

3 What is one great discovery you’ve made?

A Saint John the Baptist by Tanzio da Varallo, a truly fascinating Lombard Caravaggesque artist. The painting was unknown, and it was powerful and beautiful – and in impeccable condition.

4 One lesson you would like to pass on to others in the trade either now or in the future?

Arm yourself with patience. From the moment you decide on choosing an artwork, to conservation, research and every subsequent step - it takes a lot of patience.

5 Who do you admire in the art/ antiques world (in or outside the trade)?

Pierre Rosenberg for his enthusiasm, his ability to get to the essence of things, his scholarly rigour and energy.
