Dinky Supertoys 935 Leyland Octopus flat truck with chains in its original box – £8200 at C&T.
Estimated at £1500-2000, it was catalogued as in ‘very good to excellent original condition’.
In September 2009 Teesside auction house Vectis sold a mint model no 935 (a production run from 1964-66) in original box for £2200. More recently, in June 2016 the extensive John Kinchen collection of nearly 3500 diecast models offered at West Country auction house Piers Motley included a 935 example sold at £2300.
Glen Chapman, C&T director/toy specialist, said: “This is a scarce Dinky, made only for two years. I was not expecting the bid we got; obviously two bidders really wanted this lot.”
