Now that this is no longer the case, should we not get out of this particular piece of legislation which has done so much damage to the London art trade?
The owner of any important painting currently would simply send it to America or Switzerland where ARR does not apply, to the great disadvantage of London auction houses, picture dealers, restorers, exhibition organisers and all the other specialists who currently earn their living from the art trade.
