This canine portrait of Minnay by Edouard Manet will be offered by Drouot Estimations on February 26 estimated at €220,000-280,000.
The painting was given by the artist to Minnay’s owner – Marguerite Gauthier Lathuille – and has been in the family’s possession ever since.
The 13 x 10in (33 x 25cm) oil on canvas, executed with a series of rapid brushtrokes and signed lower right, has never before been exhibited and comes to auction with a group of related documentation from the family.
It is guided at €220,000-280,000.
