This rare set of playing cards carries an estimate of £1500-2000 at Dominic Winter of South Cerney, Gloucestershire, on December 16.

Dating from c.1689- 1799, the copper engraved pictorials illustrate events from the tumuluous reign of James II and the Glorious Revolution. Captions include The prince of Oring with his Armey landing in ye West at tor bay; The Kings Artilary going to meet the Prince; Many of ye Nobility of England in Councell about ye Danger of England and The King leaving London about three a clock in the Morning in his barge.

Like most known sets it is incomplete, although missing only the two and the king of clubs.

Glass sailing boat - estimate £70-90 at 1818 Auctioneers as part of a timed online sale closing on December 19.

Tradition has it that glass sailing boats such as this would have been created as ’friggers’ novelty pieces by Victorian glass blowers to use up the materials left over at the end of the day.

Barbie No 850 doll - estimate £100-150 at Lacy Scott & Knight on December 17.

Barbie – in full, Barbara Millicent Roberts – came to life in 11in (29cm) tall plastic doll form in 1959 thanks to California toy firm Mattel.

Her physical appearance was modelled on the German Bild Lilli doll, a risqué gag gift for men based on a cartoon character in the West German newspaper Bild Zeitung.

This early Barbie No 850 doll, comprising a figure in red swimming costume with red shoes and display stand, housed in the original card box, is on offer at Bury St Edmunds saleroom Lacy Scott & Knight on December 17.
