The artworks from this culture include figures with heads that extend outwards on both sides and bodies covered by complex painted ritual decoration.

The painted terracotta seated anthropomorphic example pictured here, which dates from c.1300-1500AD, was formerly part of the Barbier-Mueller collection in Geneva and featured in Sotheby’s sale of the collection in 2013.

The 7½in (19cm) high figure is priced at €38,000 in the Galerie Schoffel exhibition which takes place in the Galerie Pascal Lansberg on the rue de Seine.
