The blog covers Mitchell’s experiences as a Meissen dealer of 40 years and, as of April 1, includes new content such as regular video blogs, posts on the history of the European porcelain factory and tips on how to spot fakes.
Recent posts include The Art of Deception, recounting the story of the Dutchman Rodolphe Lemaire who sold early 18th Meissen as authentic 17th century Japanese Kakiemon, and Meissen in the English Home, which contains more than 200 images of the hard-paste porcelain found in English houses including National Trust properties and Greenway Torquay, home to Agatha Christie.
Lawrence Mitchell aims to help collectors and salerooms distinguish between authentic and imitation pieces of Meissen.
As well as regular updates, Mitchell plans to offer an authentication service, which will be free to use for a limited time (until June 1).
