Catalogue of the library at Fasque House – £1800 at Taylors.
The castle is near the village of Fettercairn in what was once the old Scottish county of Kincardineshire but is now part of Aberdeenshire.
An inventory rather than a full catalogue, as the illustration shows, it dates from 1840 and is contained in marbled paper-covered boards. The illustration of the opening spread seen here also contains a brief explanation of the alphabetical code provided to the locations of the books within the house.
In the end it sold via thesaleroom.com for £1800 at the auction on February 8.
