Bid to $5500 (£4315) was a complete set of the 35 weekly issues of his All the Year Round journal that included the 1860-61 serialisation of Great Expectations.
In ATG No 2441 we noted the sale at £850 of an 1881 translation of Buried Alive, or Ten Years of Penal Servitude in Siberia that marked the first printing of any of Dostoevsky’s works in England.
Another example offered here did even better, selling at $2250 (£1765).
The sale took place on July 23.
