Jean Dunand’s 'Les Biches' screen – £75,000 at Bonhams.
Measuring 6ft 7in x 7ft 9in (2 x 2.37m) and signed to the lower right, this piece was shown as part of the exhibition Le Groupe, Dunand, Goulden, Jouve, Schmied at Galeries Georges Petit, Paris, in December 1926 and was later pictured in the June 1928 issue of Good Furniture Magazine.
Sold in Paris by Ader Picard Tajan as part of the collection of Alain Lesieutre in 1989, it had since been in a private collection in London.
The hammer price was £75,000 (estimate £50,000-70,000) plus 27.5/25% buyer’s premium.
