The 21½in (54.5cm) diameter dish is decorated in famille rose palette to the centre and the well with a variety of flowering branches, and features butterflies and other insects flying around the flowers in preparation to forage.

The reverse is decorated with foaming waves on which flowerheads and petals are floating and has a Yongzheng underglaze blue mark to the centre. An identical model is in the collections of the Shanghai Museum.
