On the left is the first and only issue of The Gallimaufray, which contained hand-coloured illustrations and wood engravings by Eric Ravilious, Edward Bawden and others.
Then come the first (and only?) two issues of the college magazine that succeeded it, The Mandrake and The Second Mandrake, which again feature Bawden’s work among the illustrations.
The price realised was at the low estimate for these rare items – the last mentioned limited to a run of just 200 copies – but the Mandrakes were somewhat soiled and stained in now detached wrappers and stamped ‘discard’.
The sale took place on March 18.
