Estimated at £18,000- 25,000, the 20in x 2ft (51 x 61cm) work by the German- British artist Laurence Cossé (active 1784-1837) shows a Nile veteran begging with his model of the Vanguard.
The painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1804. Three officers, 20 seamen and seven marines were killed on board Vanguard in the 1798 battle.
