
It is included in The Jewel in the Town: The Ruby Years, from July 5-August 29, and features works by 20 contemporary artists who have a long-standing association with the gallery. Each presents two paintings in keeping with the ‘ruby anniversary’ theme, many incorporating a striking red element, such as the flowers in Edwards’ picture.
The business was launched in a Cotswold manor house in 1980 by Gerard O’Farrell and Brian Sinfield and later joined by Don Steyn. Sharon Wheaton, now the owner, joined as gallery assistant in 1997.
The show will be run with social-distancing measures in place and will also be accessible online. Artists featured include Royal Academician Mick Rooney, who staged his first show at the gallery in 1980, Pamela Kay and Alex Williams.
