1 What is your focus?

Twentieth century to Contemporary. I focus mostly on pictures but do deal with select sculptures and design pieces. The gallery bridges the gap between interior design and high-level collectable works. I aim to draw in both the first-time collector and the established connoisseur by offering well-presented works at competitive prices.

2 How did you get your start as a dealer?

I did a BA and an MA in History of Art at the Courtauld Institute. I have been working in the art world since 2012 and thought it was finally time to take the plunge and go it alone. My previous employers, Julian Simon Fine Art, helped me get started and are constantly on hand for advice and support.

3 What is one great discovery you’ve made?

I have just acquired a small and intriguing watercolour by John Nash (1893-1977) of The Brisons, a small islet off the coast of Cornwall (shown below). The work is squared up for transfer to canvas and is a great art historical document of Nash’s working method. When I bought it there was no indication as to where it was but luckily a keen-eyed viewer on Instagram was able to identify the scene. Labels to the back identify it as being from the collection of Sir David Tang (1954-2017).

4 What do you think needs to change in the market?

I would personally like to see more picture-focused art fairs such as Connect.

5 What do you collect personally?

I have a small collection of lesser known, mostly European, pop artists. I did sell one of my collection recently and instantly regretted it. I hang a number of works around my office when I am not at fairs and if I take any of them with me they always seem to be the first to go.
