1. Painted by the landscape and genre artist Tom Mostyn (1864-1930), this 19in x 2ft 2in (49 x 67cm) oil on canvas depicting a view of Dartmoor was offered at Bearnes, Hampton & Littlewood on January 21 in Exeter. Although Mostyn painted a number of Dartmoor landscapes, he is noted for his fête champêtre paintings, some of which have sold for five-figure sums.

2. This watercolour depicting a line of First World War ambulances in the snow by Ernest Procter (1886-1935) sold for three times its estimate at Lawrences of Crewkerne on January 17. The 10 x 12in (24 x 31cm) watercolour dates to his time serving with the Friends’ Ambulance Unit and is inscribed Le Treport, France 1917.

3. This early work of a Welsh street scene by the Rhondda-born painter Islwyn Watkins (1928-2018) dates to his time as a student at the Cardiff College of Art. The 21in x 2ft 5in (53 x 74cm) oil on board, signed and dated 1956, sold at Battle auction house Burstow & Hewett on December 11.
