This Doulton Lambeth terracotta plaque by George Tinworth will be included in the ceramics section of Skinner’s February 14 sale estimated at $4000-6000.
The plaque measures 9¾ x 16¼in (25 x 41cm) and is set in an oak frame. It features a scene from Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew, as titled along the top, and is also incised with a quotation from the play along the base.
It is signed, monogrammed and dated 1873 and has an estimate of $4000-6000.
