Brown furniture, CADA says, is not just useful during the festive season but can last for generations of entertaining and family meals. To mark the occasion, member dealers are sharing their antique furniture laid out for Christmas.
For example, Pritchard Antiques features a French farmhouse cherrywood table which can seat six people closed or up to 12 when the chestnut leaves are fully extended. The mid 19th century table is in good condition with a waxed surface and is offered for £3650.
Non-furniture dealers are also involved in the promotion. Glassware specialist Delomosne & Son, which has posted its annual Christmas list on the website, feature a set of six English flutes from c.1770 engraved with OXO borders on diamond-cut faceted stems, available for £2600.
