Born in Shanghai, Rosalind Ching Pastor travelled to Chicago for the first time in 1950 to visit a trade show and decided to make it her new home. She started Ching & Company, a successful Michigan Avenue boutique featuring high-end Chinese textiles and antiquities and also formed a sizeable collection of art that in 2005 became the subject of a published exhibition at the Honolulu Academy of Art.

Among the highlights in Bonhams’ sale will be this ink on paper scroll, Shrimp, by Qi Baishi (1864-1957). The horizontal scroll, measuring 2ft 3in x 4ft 6in (69cm x 1.37m), is signed Jieshan Yinguan Zhuzhe Baishi Laoren and has two artist’s seals reading Baishi and gui meng kan chi yu. The estimate is $70,000-90,000.
