AAL has decided to host two events: one to coincide with the dates for the Indian and Islamic art auctions which are traditionally in October, the other to focus on east Asian art from late October to early November.

AAL’s Indian and Islamic art event will run from October 22-31 followed by east Asian art from October 29-November 7. Some dealers will be part of both elements.

AAL director Jacqueline Simcox says the new format allows a “specific focus on Indian & Islamic art, which had been less well represented among the dealers in recent years”. She adds: “By holding two series of exhibitions and auctions, almost sequentially, it has also enabled more dealers to hire venues to show their works of art in central London, alongside the permanent galleries.”

As usual, dealers will hold exhibitions that buyers can visit in person with Covid-19 procedures in place.

Late-night viewings will be held on October 25 in St. James’s for the Indian and Islamic Art event, October 31 for Kensington Church Street dealers for east Asian art and November 1 for east Asian art St James’s dealers.

Among the new faces will be (for Indian and Islamic art) private dealer Rita Dixit, Kensington Church Street dealer JAN Fine Art and New York’s Sanjay Kapoor, specialising in miniatures and Himalayan art.

JAN Fine Art is also exhibiting at the east Asian art section alongside newcomers Lam Gallery and Steve Sly.

ATG will again be sponsoring the festival and the award for the best auction house work of art.

A full list of participants at the events appears below.

This story was updated on August 24 to include the new dates for the Indian and Islamic section and the late night viewing.
