More than half a million gentle people with flowers in their hair who greeted you with ‘hey man, peace, love’.

The photographs in the exhibition capture a moment when young people who knew the world might end tomorrow at the touch of a button put flowers in the barrels of guns and came up with the saying ‘make love, not war’. They wanted nothing more than to live their lives free from rules and regulations.

A hopeless dream of course – but take it from someone who was there, just for a moment anything seemed possible.
