Pei, whose most celebrated works include the Pyramid entrance hall to the Louvre, and his wife Eileen have assembled this collection of paintings, sculpture, works on paper and drawing over the course of their 72-year marriage.

Among the pieces on display in Paris this month will be this 1964 oil on canvas painting by Jean Dubuffet – a close friend of the couple – signed and dated J. Dubuffet 64 lower right.

The 2ft 11 x 3ft 9in (89cm x 1.14m) painting titled La Brouette (The Wheelbarrow) features in the Post War and Contemporary Art Evening sale on December 3 in Paris. The estimate is €350,000-550,000.
