The Chelsea auction house plans to add online-only timed auctions and mid-week specialist sales to its roster from the new year.

Owned by Roger Ross, Lots Road has been run by senior auctioneer Nick Carter for the past five years. It will continue to hold its regular weekly Sunday inter iors and decorative sales and its monthly fine auction but Carter said he is open to speaking to specialists who have ideas for new sales.

Currently the firm employs around 30 people and 75% of staff have been there more than 15 years.

Carter has also been looking at options to eventually expand to a second saleroom but there are no immediate plans to move.

Lots Road said it had its best sale yet in terms of hammer value on September 22. Carter added: “Every single week we produce a sale – sell it on Sunday and we are back up and on view by the Wednesday.

“We continue to use old-school ideas for getting goods in – by keeping the human element to interacting with clients. We are unpretentious, welcoming and not exclusive. This has always worked for us.”
