Presented in their original fitted, silk-lined Goldsmith’s Alliance box, and weighty at a combined 62gms (2.2oz), the two bracelets formed of articulated smooth links with bead terminals connect to become an 7in (18cm) necklace.

After heated online bidding from the UK and the US, the pair sold to a London collector for £3500 against an estimate of £1200-1800.

Also sold at Dawson’s was a 9ct gold-cased ladies’ wristwatch and yellow metal strap bearing the Suffragette’s Vote for Women slogan written on the central enamel dial. Making an interesting addition to any Suffragette jewellery collection, it took £200 from a collector.
