The watch is known by collectors as the ‘pre-Ed White’ in reference to the Speedys made before 1965 which was the first time an Omega watch was exposed to the vacuum of space.

Its successor, the Ref 105.003, was worn by astronaut Ed White during the first American space walk while the Ref 145.012 was chosen by NASA to accompany the Apollo 11 crew to the Moon.

Considered a transitional model in terms of hand, dial and button design, the 105.002-62 was produced for only a brief period in 1964 and is a genuine rarity.

This example is estimated at £8000-12,000.
