She was known for working in 18ct gold but often mixed this and other precious metals with unconventional materials such as wood, experimenting with techniques such as inlaying and the use of colour.

A black and gold bangle of her design is one of the offerings at the A La Vieille Russie exhibition Deceptively Modern Jewelry: 1940s to 1980s, running at the New York City gallery until November 15.

The large collection was amassed by the dealership and includes pieces by Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Mauboussin and Gucci among others.

According to the gallery, there has been a growing interest in jewellery of this period from fashion and jewellery houses, which work to replicate certain elements of design from decades ago.

This exhibition aims to showcase the skill and style of the original pieces. The gallery has also teamed up with Katy Kane Vintage & Couture Clothing to show the jewellery in the context of their contemporaneous fashions, showcasing unique pieces by Geoffrey Beene, Yves Saint Laurent, Halston and Normal Norell.

Around 70 pieces of jewellery are included in the show offered at prices ranging from $35,000-500,000.
