In 16 x 10in (41 x 25cm) oak frames, both were in decent condition, although the one showing a young woman with a daffodil had a small chip.
Against a £200-400 estimate, the pair sold at £2400 at the April 13 sale – a strong price for Rhead with the auction record appearing still to be the £3000 taken for her similar Burleighware charger at an Andrew Hartley’s sale in Ilkley in 2004.
