This silver and cloisonné enamel kovsh, a single-handed traditional Russian drinking vessel, is estimated at at €5000 in the Dr Fischer auction in Heilbronn on May 17.
Among the distinctive pieces is a 7in (18cm) long silver and cloisonné enamel kovsh, a single-handed traditional Russian drinking vessel.
It is decorated with intricate floral motifs and is the work of Feodor Ivanovich Rückert who was born in Moscow in 1840. He trained as a gold and silversmith, setting up a workshop in the Russian capital.
From 1887 onwards he also worked extensively for Carl Fabergé, who was responsible for the distribution of most of Rückert’s own pieces.
The kovsh, which can be dated to 1899-1903, is in the catalogue at €5000.
