He discovered the c.1900 scratch-built model horizontal live engine on the website of dealership Vavasseur Antiques while doing online research into his family tree.
Last week, the dealer said in a tweet: “The post-script to this lovely story: Stephen Campbell invited the family round last weekend without telling them what he’d done! Here they all are [see photo above], several generations, gathered around John Campbell’s model steam engine.”
