This c.1804 glass rummer above commemorates the centenary of the British capture of Gibraltar during the War of the Spanish Succession.
Engraved with a naval battle scene before ‘the Rock’ and inscribed Capture of Gibralter by the British Fleet 1704, the drinking glass is estimated at £300-400 in Elstob & Elstob’s June 23 sale in Bedale, North Yorkshire.

Period oak and vernacular auction specialist Wilkinson’s of Doncaster in South Yorkshire will include this carved and painted wood folk art toy at its sale on June 23.
The piece has a hand-held paddle surmounted by an articulated figure of a man hammering a cow and is operated via a swinging weight on strings suspended below. Estimate £200-250.

Original architectural drawings featuring designs for Tower Bridge in London are up for sale at Stroud Auctions in Gloucestershire on July 10-11.
The drawings, contained in 2ft 2in x 3ft 3in (67cm x 1m) booklets titled Contract Drawings, cover details such as the chains, roadways and masonry. Each booklet relates to a specific stage of the project.
One is marked in pen Mr J.W.Barry’s copy for the engineer John Wolfe Barry (1836-1918) who designed the bridge with English architect Horace Jones (1819-87) in 1884. The booklets are estimated at £100-200 each.
An impressive large architectural oak wall panel, constructed from 17th and 18th century elements, is estimated at £200-400 in a sale at Toovey’s in Washington, West Sussex, on June 21. Measuring 4ft 7in (1.4m) high, it bears a 1608 date and initials to the central panel and is surrounded by arched niches and figural pilasters.
