A full calendar of auctions takes place across the main independent rooms and at the Drouot centre, beginning with a selection of sales staged to coincide with the early September dealer shows and events.

Much of this has yet to be announced but Sotheby’s was on the case early with brief details of a single-owner auction of the contents of a Parisian apartment in Saint-Germain-des-Prés to be held on September 25.

Focusing on 20th century design, it has been assembled by the owner over the past 30 years – much of it acquired from the many dealers in this field located in the streets around this part of the city. The auction will include works by well-known names such as Line Vautrin, Piero Fornasetti, André Dubreuil and a flock of sheep by Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne.
