In this verdant setting Brita Rogers of Derwen Fairs holds her flagship antiques vintage and retro fairs, with the first this year running on Saturday and Sunday, January 26-27.

It involves 60 standholders inside the glasshouse, many specialising in pieces with a Welsh flavour, and around 40 more in marquees dotted around the courtyard and in nearby buildings.

Dealer Richard Bebb offers this 19th century Welsh slate ornament, priced at £680, commemorating the Crimean War, at the Derwens Fairs event in the National Botanic Garden of Wales on January 26-27.

Dealer Richard Bebb from Kidwelly in Carmarthenshire is a regular exhibitor at Derwen Fairs’ events at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Bebb offers this 19th century Welsh slate ornament shown above, priced at £680, commemorating the Crimean War. It features a fan above figures of a soldier and sailor with a scratched inscription: To Mother.
