In January you will find plenty of the British and mainland European art and antiques trade in the Big Apple. Some are exhibiting at fairs such as the famous Winter Show, now in its 65th year.

Others are there to view or bid at the end-of-month Old Master auctions or the preceding Americana and Chinese export sales.

Alternatively, others have decamped and taken space in Manhattan galleries to show selections of their stock to prospective customers.

Later in the month and into early February, activity follows the good weather to the Sunshine State with a series of fairs majoring on jewellery and silver staged in the Palm Beach vicinity.

In this issue, we preview some of the highlights from these forthcoming transatlantic events and provides a calendar of auctions staged across North America over the next two months.
