The partnership is a chance for Firsts – London’s Rare Book Fair to access potential new visitors and book buyers by staging an exhibition of highlights from the Globe Library including volumes from The John Wolfson Rare Book Collection.

“The exhibition will offer visitors an unrivalled chance to see editions which are not normally on show,” said Pom Harrington, chairman of Firsts and owner of dealership Peter Harrington.

Wolfson, a New York collector and author who is also the Globe’s honorary curator of rare books, will curate this show and give a talk accompanied by actors on the opening day of the event.

Tickets for the fair emphasise the link-up, featuring details of the famous Droeshout portrait of the bard, which appeared in the First Folio. This year marks the centenary of the birth of Sam Wannamaker, the actor whose efforts led to the rebuilding of the globe, and the 400th anniversary of the death of Shakespearean actor Richard Burbage.

Firsts – London’s Rare Book Fair takes place at Battersea Evolution on June 7-9, hosting 150 exhibitors. It recently named the online marketplace Biblio as its ‘official partner’, replacing Amazon-owned AbeBooks after three years.
