“We saw good decorators from the US and one private buyer had flown in especially from LA to attend the fair,” said Ed Foster of Foster & Gane, which offered the secretaire for £5800.
He added that it was the business’ best opening day at the fair ever.
“We’ve sold to new and existing clients and were very excited to see so many US dealers here,” he said.
Interior designer Billy Cotton and dealership Obsolete were among the businesses from across the pond represented by visitors.
The fair, which ran alongside the London Antique Rug & Textile Art Fair (LARTA), hosted 150 exhibitors and ran from January 22-27 at Battersea Evolution.
Though most of the sales reported were under £10,000, highlights included a large group of prints by Raoul Dufy from Odyssey Fine Arts ticketed at £20,000, and a c.1970 bespoke mirrored centre table by French designer Daniel Clement, ticketed at £12,500, sold from the stand of Les Trois Garçons.
