The Qing Dynasty item, c.1860, retains much of its original decorative paintwork and depicts Guanyin, the Buddhist bodhisattva associated with compassion. It is offered for £480 on the stand of Andy Lambert, trading as Fu Ts’ang Lung Oriental Antiques.
Paul Burnett Antiques & Interiors also attends, offering Chinese earthenware and pottery figures, while Amelie & Melanie Caswell bring small Japanese collectables such as carvings and jewellery.
Jon Irvine Antiques, a newcomer to the fair, features Asian art and antiques as well as European ceramics and glass.
Three a year
Candice Horley of vintage fashion, handbag and jewellery dealership 20th Century Glamour brings a pair of porcelain figurines from the Katzhutte factory. Dated 1939, they are catalogued in perfect condition and offered for £595 each.
Organiser Cooper Events holds three editions of the Cotswolds fair annually. This staging, the first of the year, runs from January 3-5 at Westonbirt School, the usual venue. Forty dealers bring decorative antiques, 20th century pieces, art, jewellery, vintage fashion and more. Prices range from £20-20,000.
