The artist proof etching above by CRW Nevinson (1889-1946) was given by the artist to the owner as a little girl in 1940 during the early days of the Second World War. Her family were neighbours of Nevinson who lived in Hampstead.

Le Pont Royale is one of three images Nevinson completed in 1922 of the famous bridges of Paris, the others being Pont des Arts and Pont Neuf. The estimate at Charterhouse in Sherborne on January 9-10 is £1000-1500.
