1. Partially paralysed on her right side, the Suffolk-born painter Lucy Harwood (1893-1972) painted still-lifes and landscapes with her left hand. This 2ft x 20in (61 x 51cm) oil on canvas, Industrial Landscape Through the Trees, doubled hopes at Reeman Dansie in Colchester on November 19.

2. Few paintings by the Cypriot painter Fotos Hadjisoteriou (1919-2004) have sold in the UK. This signed 2ft x 2ft 2in (60 x 65cm) work, titled Vespers to verso, is one of the exceptions and fetched nearly four times its top guide at Clevedon Salerooms on November 14 in Bristol.

3. John Piper’s (1903-92) wartime depictions of bomb-damaged churches and landmarks made the artist a household name. This later screen print of Long Melford Church in Suffolk, 18 x 2ft (46 x 61cm) in size and from an edition of 275, sold within estimate at Hartleys of Ilkley in West Yorkshire.
