This gilt metal pair cased verge pocket watch c.1750 is signed Henry Hindley, York, No.959.
Born near Wigan, Hindley (1701-71) moved to workshops in Petergate, York in 1731 where he produced many complicated clocks – including the turret clock for York Minster.
This more modest example of his craft carries an estimate of £600-800 at Tennants of Leyburn on September 7.
