A private collector has consigned a range of early 20th century ‘classic’ illustrations to Gildings’ Fine Art & Antique auction on September 3.
A rare set of six hand-coloured lithographic broadsides (one shown above) by Ernest H Shepard for AA Milne’s When We Were Very Young, Methuen & Co, 1926, is estimated at £2000-3000.
This set is offered alongside a proof set of the same lithographic broadsides (without colour) guided at £1500-2000 and an original pen and ink drawing of Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet sat on a bench (£4000-6000).
