Featured among the paintings is an oil on canvas by the British marine artist Montague Dawson (1890-1973) picturing the American Privateer Grand Turk Capturing the English Brig Acorn on March 18, 1815.

The 15 x 19in (38 x 48cm) canvas in a gold frame is signed lower left and titled on a label from the Frost & Reed Gallery, London, to the verso. It is estimated at $10,000-15,000.

Neoclassical circular tea caddy by Hester Bateman estimated at $1500-1800 in the Thomaston Place auction on August 23-25.

The European silverwares to be offered on the second day of the sale (August 24) include a 5in (13cm) high Neoclassical circular tea caddy by Hester Bateman with maker’s marks and hallmarks for London 1789 decorated with bright-cut engraving. Fitted with two interior compartments and a lock and key, the caddy weighs just under 12oz and has an estimate of $1500-1800.
