In 2011 they sold the company to Charlotte and Frankie Milford and Charlotte now runs the fairs as a sole business.

Included in Field Dog’s portfolio was the antiques and collectors’ fair held at the Magnus Sports Hall in Newark which the Thurmans launched 15 years ago.

They have now revived this fair with the first under their new banner of Paul Thurman Antiques Fairs being held on Sunday, August 11, at the sports hall.

Ruth said: “Field Dog Fairs let this fair go at the end of 2018 and some of the dealers asked us if we would take it up again.

“The Magnus Sports Hall fair was always a very good little fair to attract the foreign trade coming for the bigger Lincoln and Newark venues and good business could be done in a very short space of time.”

Held on the Sunday before IACF Newark and Swallow Fairs at Lincoln, two more of these sport hall events follow this year in Newark: Sunday, October 6, and Sunday, December 1. They start at 7.30am and finish at 3pm.

Paul Thurman Antiques Fairs is on Facebook.
