Made in the late-19th or early-20th century, this English architectural dog’s house is available from Peacock’s Finest for £7500.

The English neoclassical kennel is thought to have been made to match the interior features of a particular home and was possibly designed by an architect.

Dog kennels became popular among aristocratic pet owners in 18th century Europe and were a regular part of domestic furnishing. Peacock’s features the house on its website, both on its stock pages and on its blog, where one post covers 11 historic luxury dog houses, such as 17th century upholstered pieces of the type that Madame de Pompadour might have used, or a Chinoiserie example.

The dealership specialises in fine English furniture of the 18th-19th centuries. As well as running a Pimlico gallery, it features stock through a monthly subscription newsletter and via social media platforms including Instagram.
