The painting, found in an attic in Toulouse in 2014 and authenticated in 2016, is exhibited alongside the installation Pyramidal, haut-relief – A5, travail in situ by Daniel Buren.

It remains there until May 4 and goes to auction on June 27 at Marc Labarbe.

Mennour said: “The juxtaposition is interesting as the two works are complete opposites: the Caravaggio is telling a dramatic story, whereas the Buren is strictly non-pictorial.”
